Holidays Our Way

Are you curious how we celebrate the holidays? Well, I’m going to share with you holidays our way!

Also, please take some time to look over other blogs’ ‘Holidays Our Way’ or ‘The Perfect Gift’ below.

The holiday season is my favorite time of the year! It is a season where we are inspired to focus and spend time with our family, friends & loved ones. It is a season where we desire to brighten someone else’s day with either gifts or our presence. It is a season where we are motivated to be generous and kind to other people who are not as blessed to have a home, a family or food to eat. It is a season where we celebrate the past, the present & the future.

We celebrate the holidays with my immediate family, just us three (Mr. Tropical, Coral & I). We live far away from our families. I would love to have all of us celebrating together, but flight tickets are CRAZY expensive these days. For now, we are doing a laid-back quiet holiday season with just us three. We believe strongly that traditions are significant during the holiday season. We continued some traditions from our childhoods and created some unique traditions with our daughter, Coral.

Holidays Our Way

Coral’s first Christmas in 2013.

After Thanksgiving, we get in the Christmas spirits! We begin Black Friday shopping and decorate the house in colorful & white lights. I frequently run to Dollar Tree store to grab everything from their holiday section. So fun to create holiday crafts/decorations and not fret if they do get wrecked. We bake festive cookies. Make salt dough ornaments. Watch Christmas movies such as The Polar Express and The Grinch. Drink hot chocolate with marshmallows even when it is sunny & warm outside in Florida.

This year is unlike than the rest since Coral is 2 years old and she understands a little better about Christmas than when she was a baby. She loves to help out with anything & everything from putting the ornaments up & taking them down, knocking over the outdoor Christmas decorations, eating the raw cookie dough, painting herself while we do holiday crafts and run around the store grabbing the toys. She is undoubtedly FULL of the Christmas spirit!

Holidays Our Way

One thing that warms my heart this holiday season is when she learns the connection between The Polar Express book and The Polar Express movie. She will point to the page in the book when it shows in the movie. Another thing is when she sign “I HELP?” whenever I do something.

Since we live in Florida, we will go to Disney World during the holiday season. This year is our first time having annual passes, so we are so ecstatic to see the Christmas lights at nighttime! We bring our daughter, Coral to meet Santa and take pictures with him there. Last year, she freaked out and we had to be included in the picture. Hopefully, this year would be better!

On Christmas Eve, we let Coral open one present and we drive around the neighborhood to look at the Christmas lights. In the morning of Christmas day, we open presents, cook a big hearty meal, chow down on festive cookies, drink holidays beers/alcoholic beverages, watch football games and play with Coral & her new toys! The rest of the Christmas day, we relax and skype with our families from far away and thank them for the presents.

Have a Magical Holiday from my family to yours!

  1. I also love the holiday season! It’s such a happy time of year.

I’ve only been to Disney once, when my daughter was 6 mo this old. It was in the middle of December and it was decorated beautifully! She’ll love it!

    Happy holidays!
